Our educational and fun-filled day will include introductions, presentations on basic camera tools and composition, hands-on shooting with coaching, and feedback of images.
This class includes our proven learning cycle, which is to provide INFORMATION, give opportunities to PRACTICE using the information, and then receive FEEDBACK on the practice results. It’s all about the fun of learning by doing.
LOCATION The class is held in the Regenstein Center (Map) at the Chicago Botanic Garden
ABOUT THE LEADERS
Lou is a photography educator who helps photographers discover and explore the artist within. Lou is first and foremost a photography teacher, as well as, an award-winning photographer and stunning image-maker. He is a man on a mission to make photographing fun, creative and rewarding for others through his unique teaching style. The hallmark of Lou’s teaching style is his eagerness to share his professional experience and techniques, while always providing encouragement and humor. Lou has taught thousands of aspiring photographers. He literally gets “goose-bumps” when he sees the amazing images made by his students, and counts their successes as his most treasured reward. Besides sharing his professional experience and techniques with considerable encouragement, he offers constructive feedback with a fun sense of humor. One of his students recently commented, “You can be a great photographer, but not know how to teach. Lou is a phenomenal teacher and an amazing photographer!”
Todd Nettelhorst is also an accomplished, artistic photographer, as well. His charismatic energy and unique photographic perspective is very contagious. He has a passion for the visual arts and helping others bring out the best in their creative abilities.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND This workshop is designed to accommodate beginner to advanced beginner levels of photographic experience.
EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATIONS A digital camera (DSLR, Point & Shoot, or Phone + camera app) with owner’s manual, laptop, flashdrive and fully charged batteries for all electronics.
DRESS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS In the spring, weather is quite variable. Be sure to check the forecast and dress accordingly (Weather). We may go outside and shoot some of the practice session, so be prepared. All other sessions will be held indoors. The recommended physical condition is easy.
TRANSPORTATION and MEALS We will meet near by and carpool to the garden to avoid parking for non-members (details provided in follow up email). Coffee and water will be provided in the morning and later a box lunch (choice to made in follow up email).

REGISTRATION FEES: $175* Non-Club member (min. 10/ max. 25 participants)
The all-inclusive registration fee includes instruction, coffee, water and box lunch.
*The registration fee will be refundable only when a participant has to withdraw prior to the event and there is a waiting list and their spot can be filled.
