Canoe, photograph and camp among the towering Red Rock cliffs, star gaze across the open desert sky and explore unbelievable slot canyon side hikes on this epic trip through Labyrinth Canyon of the Green River near Moab, Utah. We will paddle 64 miles through some of the most awe inspiring terrain America and the Southwest has to offer. Sandbar camping, sun soaking, and easy living will offer a wilderness reset and memories to last a lifetime.
We will paddle 64 miles over 5 days from our launch point near the town of Green River, Utah to our end point at Mineral Bottom boat ramp. We will meet at Green River State Park on October 4, 2024 at the designated time on the morning of our first day. We will carpool from our lodging in Moab and vehicles will be left at the State Park for the duration of the trip. Once we reach our end point at Mineral Bottom, transportation will be provided back to the vehicles at our start point. We will be off the river and back to vehicles late in the afternoon of the final day – October 8, 2024.
What to expect:
The Green River through Labyrinth Canyon is a relatively wide, slow rolling river with steep red canyons running along either bank. Upon arriving at the launch site we will have a safety talk, go over canoeing 101, and have a general trip intro/rundown. We will pack our boats for the first time (each person/boat will be responsible for all personal gear and some portion of group gear). Generally speaking, we will wake up, adventure out for a shoot and return to camp to relax with hot drinks and breakfast. After packing up camp, we’ll paddle for about two hours before finding a great lunch spot and stopping to stretch the legs. After lunch we will paddle for 2-3 more hours, then find camp. Once our spot is established we will set up camp, gather firewood, head out for another shoot then head back to camp for appetizers and dinner. After dinner folks can relax and then if interested shoot the evening sky around our camp location. Each member of the group will have rotating responsibilities including gathering firewood, “fire master”, and helping at camp when applicable. All food will be provided, and prepared for you. Afternoons and evenings will allow plenty of time for shooting on side hikes, swimming, storytelling, star watching and other camp activities.

Getting There:
Driving- Green River State Park, located just offI-70 is about an hour drive north of the town of Moab, Utah. Flying- There is a small regional airport outside of Moab called Canyonlands Field Airport. Flights from Denver and Salt Lake fly regularly, and other options / combinations do exist. If flying, please let me know and we will do our best to work out options for transportation after landing. It’s worth noting that both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are in the area and worth exploring. Also world class mountain biking and great hiking, if willing to tack on a day or two before or after the trip.
*Please note that while this trip does travel through one of the most spectacular canyons in the world, it is remote and rural. Other than our end and starting points, there is only 1 spot with access to a road. This means that once we push off, we are committed to reaching the take out (there will be one satellite phone in the group for extreme emergencies). We will do our best to stick to the plan, however, the river and the desert are in charge. Sometimes this means blistering heat, pouring rain, heavy winds or cold nights. We may face challenges that we will have to overcome as a group. In the end, we will have an amazing time no matter what mother nature throws at us. That is half the fun.
